SPM 2024 Add Maths Paper 1, Question 6Systems of Equations

Solved on video in English and Bahasa Melayu · Form 4, Systems of Equations · 5:19 video

The question

Solve the following simultaneous equations by using the method of substitution and / or elimination. 2x + 3y − 2z = −6 , −3x + y + 4z = −7 , −4x − 5y − 6z = 4.

Step 1

Label the equations: (1) 2x + 3y − 2z = −6, (2) −3x + y + 4z = −7, (3) −4x − 5y − 6z = 4.

6 more steps, each with the reason for it, in the full solution

Final answer

x = 2, y = −3, z = 1/2

Where students lose marks

Watch out: multiply every term in the bracket. 10(−19 − 7y) is −190 − 70y, not −190 − 7y.
