Diagram 3 shows a triangle BOA. The straight lines OX and BY intersect at point P. It is given that OA = 4a, AX = b, 3BX = 2BA and OY = (3/4)OA. (a) Express in terms of a and b: (i) OX, (ii) BY.

Diagram 3 shows triangle BOA with OX and BY intersecting at P, where OA = 4a, AX = b, 3BX = 2BA, OY = (3/4)OA, OX = 4a + b and BY = −a − 3b. (b) If OP = λOX, where λ is a constant, find BP : PY.
